I'm in a bit of a unique position as both a mum and a class provider in that I've amassed a knowledge of things to do with kids, great cafes, and helpful resources.
This page is a directory of the places that either I've been to or other parents from my classes have recommended.

Join us for our weekly Toddler Takeover which pops up in the corner of our café, and give your little ones the freedom to crawl and toddle!
With colourful soft play shapes, toys and books - we’re set up for BIG adventures and lots of fun. Kielly and little Eryn will be there as our awesome hosts so, you needn’t worry about coming by yourself - there’s always someone to chat with.
Meanwood Valley Urban Farm is a working farm in Leeds, which is open seven days a week for the public to visit our animals, gardens, and flourishing woodland.
There's also a fabulous cafe that is very child friendly and serves food using local produce. It's run by Andy who is a Dad himself as well as a coffee aficionado so you can be guaranteed a great caffeine hit!
Skelton Grange welcome people of all ages to learn, volunteer and play outdoors at our award-winning eco-centre and nature area in Leeds.
They run a variety of events throughout the year and in the holidays for toddles and children including an Easter Egg Hunt!
Every Sunday from 12pm - 3pm Meanwood Tavern holds a free supervised table top crafting as well as a free pizza slice for kids with every full sized pizza.
Sessions are 45mins and works on a first come first served basis.
This is a fab farm with lots of animals to see! It's only £1 per person and includes a bag of feed for the children.
There is also a Farm Shop and indoor play area with plenty of seating, as well as an outdoor picnic area.
The Headingley, Horsforth, and Ireland Wood Children's Centres hold a range of events, Stay & Plays, and support services.
Most of these are free and the Facebook page also has a lot of great information for new parents.
The Den is a purpose built family club offering a range of fun-filled activities, with a drop-off playroom, offering pockets of time for parents whilst their children play.

Home to the West Yorkshire Sling Library, The Circle is also a shop and Hub for other events.
The West Yorkshire Sling Library has over 700 slings available to try and hire, with Nicola there to advise and help you find what works the best for you while being safe and comfortable.
You can either attend a drop in session or book a one on one appointment. Nicola is also happy to help with any sling you already have.
The Circle also hosts the Leeds Cloth Nappy Library, and Hey Mama; a peer support group for anyone struggling with their mental health.
Pudsey Community Project runs a well-stocked children’s clothes exchange – all kinds of children’s clothes from 0-12 years old including school uniform, shoes, coats etc – saving people money and helping the planet at the same time!
There are no fixed prices – clothes are free with no pressure to give but if you’d like to give a small donation to the Pudsey Community Project this will help support our work in the local area – or feel free to bring clothes that your children have grown out of as a swap.
It's not a shop so make sure to double check when it's open either through the website or Facebook page.
Leeds City Council Library's are free and often run events for children.
Headingley Library has a great kids section as well as a set of play drawers with all sorts of fun things in!
Free events include:
Bounce & Rhyme, a fun session of sharing songs and rhymes with your baby in a relaxed and friendly atmosphere.
Story & Rhyme, stories and rhymes for under-5s.
Lego Club for the over 5s
A social enterprise coffee shop located in the scenic surroundings of Meanwood Valley Urban Farm. They care about serving quality coffee and building local community.
Whether you’re looking for a place to meet friends, enjoy a family outing, or a quiet mid-week spot to work or relax in, The Barn offers you a warm welcome.
It is family friendly, with children’s menu options and comfortable seating, and free wifi.
21 Co. is a cafe & shop run for and by people with Down Syndrome to offer training and work experience with the aim of creating job opportunities.
The shop sells items made by independent makers & artists and at least 35% of each purchase goes directly to Sunshine and Smiles - Leeds Down Syndrome Network charity!
The seating area includes a play kitchen for the little ones and is a lovely place in the centre of Headingley.
Located in the Headingley Heart Centre the cafe is a lovely place to go where you will often find other parents with their children.
The food is lovely with a great selection and a pick & mix children's menu so you only have to order what you know they'll eat!
The Heart Centre also runs various events for children and families, and has Tiny Boo on site, a play room with climbing frame and lots of fun toys. You can either book online or just turn up to see if there are spaces. It has tables to sit at and you can order from the cafe straight to the room!
Your neighbourhood deli serving up all the yummy stuff! Artisan Pizzas, Focaccia Sandwiches, Fresh Bread, Pastries, Sweet Treats
and so much more...
The food is divine and it's so popular with the local mums it's worth booking a table if you know in advance when you're going!
There are lots of events include the Mum Club, which is all about socialising with like-minded people and getting a chance to chat all about the highs and lows of parenting (and everything in between) without judgement.
A super chilled, incredibly friendly, and beautiful forest school at Meanwood Valley Urban Farm.
Run by everyones Forest Granny, the lovely Sarah, it's a real community of parents and incredibly welcoming.
If you're a bit further out from Leeds and looking for a forest school then this is for you!
Green Explorers is run by one of the Rattle & Hum Mums and is a safe woodland space where families can explore and play.
BYOB choir is a brand new weekly event, it's a chance to connect with other parents, while singing songs that you want to sing and discovering your voice in a warm and inclusive environment.
Fun, play based session that helps you teach your little one through play with easy activities. Including messy play, rhymes and a chance to meet others in an informal setting, with support from a trained EYT.
Expect a party like atmosphere for the whole family, good music, soft play, pom poms, instruments, parachute fun and enough bubbles to cure any signs of the terrible two’s!
Little Movers is an award winning, exciting dance and movement programme for children under school age.
Little Burrowers play cafe is designed for babies to preschool. Come along and explore the magical sensory playroom designed for aged 0-18 months.
Sing and Sign classes help your baby recognise important words sooner and can use the signs to “talk” to you before speech.
Krissy Bonner runs both pregnancy and baby yoga classes at Meanwood Valley Farm. These are relaxing classes with no previous experience needed.
